CALL FOR PARTICIPATION/PAPERS

17th Annual Conference of the Alabama Association for Institutional Research (ALAIR)
April 3-4, 2003
Troy State University Montgomery

Non-Traditional: The New Majority

The 17th Alabama Association for Institutional Research Annual Conference will be held at the Rosa Parks Library and Museum on the campus of Troy State University Montgomery, April 3-4, 2003. The theme, "Non-Traditional: The New Majority," is timely with the American Council of Education reporting 70 percent of students being non-traditional. The Annual Conference gives us an opportunity to share data, experiences, assessment activities, research outcomes, plans, projects, skills, expertise, challenges, and opportunities.

Your participation in the ALAIR Annual Conference is essential to ensure the success of the Conference. You do not have to be an ALAIR member, or even an institutional researcher to submit a proposal? Proposals in all areas of institutional research, assessment, policy analysis, planning, and related techniques are encouraged. Your participation can take the form of a paper, a presentation, or a tools and techniques session. Proposals do not have to be related directly to the conference theme.

  • Papers and Presentations are formal sessions that present a scholarly approach or extended discussion of a technique of interest to conference participants. These sessions will be approximately 45 minutes in length (which includes the time for questions/answers).

  • Tools and Techniques sessions are informal presentations of reports, analyses, techniques, software, demonstrations, and the like. The presenter may develop a brief (3-5 minutes) presentation, but the value of this type of session is the opportunity to discuss the topic one-on-one, or in small groups.

To submit your proposal, send the following information and attach a brief abstract of what you plan to present to the contact person listed below by February 24, 2003. If you have special equipment requirements, questions, or concerns, please contact Dan Tennimon at phone (334-241-9536), fax (334-241-8619), or E-mail: dtennimon@tsum.edu
